Castleton Hotel

I'll start with the positive points: the hotel is very well located in relation to Paddington station, the price per night is not excessive for a London hotel. This hotel will allow you to live the Harry Potter experience to the end by experiencing Harry's bedroom under the staircase when he still lived with the Dursleys. Plus, you won't want to go back to your room so much that you'll spend your days outside visiting! Oh and there is hot water! For the negative, I would say: EVERYTHING. My room was in the basement so no light, there was a window but given the view, the state of the tiles...I preferred to keep the curtains closed. The room was tiny, I had to push the kettle (which was on the floor) to be able to open my suitcase. The carpet on the floor is stained and disgusting (I'm sorry but I really have no other words). The mattress is dirty and stained (I'm waiting to find out if I brought in bed bugs). The only piece of furniture: the bedside table was in such a state (dirty, sticky and dusty at the same time) that I avoided touching it. Almost everything is broken: the air conditioning, the fire alarm, the television, the telephone...I haven't tested the heating but I have my own idea. The wifi works 1 time out of 4. No soundproofing, you will have the impression of being in the corridor. The bedroom door does not lock from the inside so it is not very secure. It doesn't smell good, especially in the common areas. The bathroom is like the rest: small and dirty. The water is not drinkable. You are entitled to a bath mat and a bath towel that appear clean. I stayed there 5 nights, cleaning was never done and no towel change. IN TOTAL: I think that for health reasons this hotel should be closed. So rather to avoid...

This property is great for the location alone, a short walk from Paddington station, with supermarkets and clubs in the immediate vicinity. The staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful. For the rest....the double bed is smaller than normal and the bathroom...tiny. It can only be good for those who really know how to make do and turn a blind eye to the non-existent cleanliness... if you want to have your bath towels changed you have to ask at the reception, the room can be tidied up but only for a fee. Another thing we didn't like is that they charge 1 Pound per hour to leave your luggage at reception.

My stay at this hotel was a complete nightmare. From the moment we entered the room, we realized that things were very bad. The beds were small and spring-filled, making sleeping an almost impossible task. In addition, the windows were broken, allowing noise and cold to enter uncontrollably. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. We found hair in the shower and it was so small and dirty that we had to put towels on the floor to avoid direct contact with it. The carpet in the entire room was wet and dirty, creating an unpleasant smell and a constant feeling of discomfort. It is a shame that a place that should be a refuge for travelers is in such a sorry state. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. The lack of maintenance, general dirt and poor condition of the facilities make it a completely inadvisable option. Avoid it at all costs.
