Britannia Hotel Hampstead

Very old, dated, worn. Staff are nice enough. Food was basic but fine, hot and edible. Rooms are unbearably hot. Unfortunately our stay coincide with a heat wave. There's no air con. Thankfully we were provided with fans. But they didnt help one bit. Got little to no sleep for 2 nights. Checked out early.

Stayed here as a party of 7 women on a Caledonian trip 2 nights stay to see Abba Voyage on June 19th. We were initially pleasantly surprised on entering the lobby and staff were very friendly as we were allocated our rooms. We were on the second floor and the weather was 30 degrees. We opened the door and it was like opening an oven!!! 🥵🥵🥵 the curtains were closed except for a gap at the top which wouldn’t open or close the entire weekend. There were 2 fans which were absolutely useless and just circulated the hot air. The room was very dated (I was prepared to overlook this as I knew how central the location was and it was, after all just a base for visiting London ) and it was clean. We had 3 single beds each with one pillow and very light quilts. The beds were quite lumpy and uncomfortable. Lots of wardrobe space with an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. Lots of plug sockets also and including usb charging points which was helpful. A small desk with a mirror above and a kettle with tea, coffee etc. The wardrobe also had a full length mirror in it. The bathroom was ok (very clean) with a large walk in shower, which we used regularly for cold showers to cool us down! We also had plenty of towels although a bit small. Now the worst bit… the food! Absolutely inedible on the first night, in fact we struggled to identify a couple of dishes. Because the windows were slightly open little ants were on the table too. The breakfast wasn’t much better but anything they didn’t need to cook was ok ie cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit and pastries. The bar is very expensive but every bar in London is! It’s also cashless so card payments only. There is only one table outside with 3 chairs. We chose to go to The Washington pub which is a few minutes up the road and it serves lovely food. There is also a Tesco express a few doors away which was handy We saw a man have his mobile phone snatched from his hand by 2 people on a small moped and apparently this happens a lot so beware. On the Saturday night we went the other way to Primrose Hill and a beautiful street of bars and restaurants where we had a beautiful Italian meal. Chalk Farm tube station isn’t far either. This hotel could be amazing if it updated the rooms and had air conditioning as the location is lovely. All in all we had an amazing weekend but because of the extremely hot weather it was very unpleasant to be in the hotel room even just to get ready or sleep! Iv written hundreds of reviews and I’m always completely honest. I hope this helps prepare future guests

The location of the hotel in next to primrose hill it's a very nice area very close to camden market and the underground is only about 10 mins walk away and for any oasis fans noel gallachers old house supernova heights is literally a 5 mins walk from the hotel. OK on to the hotel I went with my husband travelled down with caladonian travel the hotel looked really dated from the outside,inside the foyer was decorated very nicely...our room on the other hand was very dated and there was marks on the wallpaper etc carpets where frayed aswell,we had a balcony view which showed really amazing views into London.. We only had some really small towels in the room aswell if these rooms where updated this hotel would be am amazing place to stay because it is sitting in a lovely spot..the food wasn't that great either I'm afraid the food wasn't as hot as it should of been so didn't really eat there....Some of the staff where friendly than others....wouldny stay here again..
