Holiday Inn London Kingston South

Booked this hotel for a one night stay before Wimbledon. Booked this hotel as it had aircon but was wary due to other reviews. However the hotel is great. Clean, modern and standard room is well appointed. The window doesn’t have a view at all but that’s fine for a one night stay. Bathroom is really well designed and looks to be relatively new. Beds comfortable and it’s even got complimentary robes and slippers. Breakfast was nice, lots of choice and hot options you can order from the menu. Car park is £10 a night, 1 minute walk at the back of the hotel. Only one lift working.

This hotel is not what I recognise as an InterContinental Hotel Group, Crown Plaza. In my extensive experience of global business travel staying in ICH hotels all over the world it is more like a Holiday Inn Express with a full service restaurant. My perspective will be different to many customers of the Crowns Plaza Kingston, which probably accounts for other reviews with more stars than I feel able to give it. The 'Club' room overlooking the river was comfortable and clean but the bathroom was tiny. The Air Conditioning could not keep up with the hot conditions. What went wrong? 1) Only one out of two lifts working and the working one was very slow. The door dwell time (how long it stays open) was excessive and the door-close button did not work. 2) Key card would not let me into the room so I had to use the very slow lift back down to reception carrying my luggage on a very hot day to get the key re-coded. That happened later on in my stay as well. For most of my stay I used the stairs to the second floor which was infinitely quicker. 3) Two very loud TV's playing in the bar/restaurant area - OK it was a world cup match but not a home team playing. 4) My drink was served in a filthy glass. The barman found another filthy glass before finding a clean one. 5) I ordered a starter and main course. Both were served together and the starter was unrecognisable as Deep fried Squid. The Main Course salad was meagre at best. The waiter didn't seem to understand the problem of serving starter and main together. 6) During my meal, water started pouring down through the lights in the ceiling over the bar. 7) Wi-Fi failed at 07.15 What more can I say?....Nothing really apart from that I won't be staying there again.

Vishal & Steven were absolutely fantastic we were a group of 4 girls who had been let down late at night by air b&b. Vishal helped us get a room sorted at late notice & took good care of us. Nothing was a problem at all. Steven helped us look for things to do as we were then in the wrong area to where we needed to be. It’s just the little things that go along way. They are both a credit to your team & made a bad situation so much better by how helpful they both were.
