Radisson Blu Hotel, London South Kensington formerly Vanderbilt

.We paid to upgrade to a premium room. Upon arrival we went to our room which clearly was not a premium room. It was nothing like the photos on the website and it was also dirty. We immediately called reception who moved us to another room. This also was very different to the photos and looked exactly like a basic room apart from slippers and robes. We went to reception again because this room did not appear to be a premium room and was also dirty, although not as dirty as the first room. We spoke to a manager who didn’t appear to care. He took my husband to a third room which was identical to the room we already had. We said we would stay where we were. I am so upset and annoyed at the price we paid. I could have stayed at a Premier Inn for a fraction of the price but because this was a special occasion we paid more to stay here. I really wish I hadn’t. The hotel is very tired and in need of an update. It didn’t feel like a Radisson at all. In terms of our room, there were hairs in the bed and in the bath. The headboard was dusty. The furniture was dated, dirty, scuffed and damaged. The carpet was hacky, dirty and stained and had not been hoovered properly. I was very grateful for the slippers as I would not have wanted to walk barefoot around the room. Sadly, the staff did not appear to care or be bothered and didn’t really do anything to rectify the situation. Upon complaining to Radisson customer services, they emailed the hotel, copied me in and asked the hotel to email me to sort it. They have said they will refund the cost of the upgrade. Two weeks later and I’m yet to receive the refund. A dirty, run down hotel which does not seem to fit with the Radisson brand. Overpriced with staff who just did not appear to care. Wish we’d stayed elsewhere and wish I’d read some of the reviews first!

Me and pregnant sister came away for 1 night to see a concert, before the baby comes. We had a stressful time coming down due to the hot weather and our trains was cancelled, but we eventually arrived on Saturday the 27th to South Kensington Radison blu. When we arrived at the hotel, all the staff was lovely and the inside and the outside of the hotel and reception was lovely and clean. So first impressions was really nice. I did ask before we checked in was it possible to get a upgrade and I will pay the extra as we really didn’t think about it in a double room and I didn’t want to knock my sister’s tummy being so close together in bed, They said if they could, they would try and give me a free upgrade. We left the bags and then arrived back at check-in time. We got our keys and went to the room and it was like a tiny dark little room with the smallest double bed. I went back to reception and the lady showed me another room and it was a little bit bigger so she went to get me the keys and unfortunately we was told we couldn’t have that room. I even asked, could we put a put up bed in there and they told us no, but they could give us a twin room as she said she was fully booked and there was no other rooms left. So we accepted the twin room. When we got in the room it was still very small, but it’s only until we sat down in the room and realised how dirty and stinky it was. We were so disappointed and angry because we’ve booked this hotel as we was going to Hyde Park and it wasn’t too far for my Sister to travel and especially in all this heat didn’t make it any better. Firstly, the Carpet we noticed and our shoes were sticking to the carpet and they were stained all over the chair to the desk was stained all over it.the desk had some sort of stuff on it I didn’t even know what it was thank God we had Dettol wipes in our handbag as we cleaned the room ourselves It was disgusting. On the front of the fridge door was all dirty and again some sort of drip marks all over it, everything looked like it really needed a good clean. It smelled old and musty. The headboard was all worn off like it had been their years. It didn’t even feel cleaning enough to put me on head up against it. There was also dried snot stuck to the walls, which was absolutely disgusting, and there was peoples names written on the walls, The bathroom the sink was cracked inside and on the outside with all Brown black muck that was in the crevice. Outside on the bath panel had all soap and drip marks all over it and inside the shower there was black hairs. You can see the photos attached, I have never experienced this in any Radisson hotel that I’ve stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few Manchester Leeds and Edinburgh being my favourite one on the Royal Mile, none of these hotels was as disgusting as this. It was on the first floor room nine, we were so appalled as I have worked in hospitality before in a very small hotel, but it was very clean. It just ruined our whole weekend thinking we’ve got to go back to that dirty Hotel, this was meant to be a lovely Sister‘s trip before my sister had the baby and it turned out a nightmare! Please see the photos attached, it would only let me add so many photos. This is not what you expect for a £300 night Away. Don’t be fooled by their own photos as it did not look like that at all, but I have to say we did have standard rooms but it was absolutely disgusting.

This is not a 4 star hotel whatsoever. 3 star at the very best. Rundown old wood furniture thats tired. Small rooms.poor decor. No aircon just awful. There are plenty else to go to for better.. avoid.
