Stamford Bridge Hotel London

Checked in at 3:35pm. First room they allocated had a broken small old Samsung TV that had no signal. The bed was damaged and the air conditioning which I was then told it wasn’t air conditioning as advertised but a cooling system wasn’t working and the room was very hot. I reported this and it took 90 minutes before a manager came to my room he tried to fix the TV but couldn’t. He then left the room and came back in 15 minutes and said he needed to move me to another room as could not fix the TV. He offered me breakfast as gesture. It was however a bit embarrassing in front of other guests because when I went to the restaurant I was told in front of other guests I was not down on the list to get a breakfast so on the second day I decided to forget breakfast as not sure I would be on the list. In the restaurant the first morning they had an omelette burning in the pan with no chef in sight. The new room wasn’t much better because the 2 USB ports at the desk didn’t work. The USB ports were replaced by an engineer who was very helpful on the 2nd day in the late afternoon to one USB and one USB-C port. The hotel did try to fix things. Like the first room all the furniture was damaged and needs replacing. The room smells damp. The WiFi worked and didn’t drop out which was one positive. The Stamford Bridge hotel is a total building site at present. For a hotel under refurbishment the rate needs to be much lower in my opinion. The room had a safe and a cooler but not an actual fridge. They also switched the water off at 8:45am, so I could not have a shower. They also need to make sure everything works before renting out a room. The bed was very uncomfortable. The shower has very poor water pressure and is over a bath and the shower bracket is broken so you have to hold the shower head to wash your hair which is not so easy to do. I personally prefer a separate shower cabinet. No shaving mirror The Paint was also falling off the ceiling in the Bedroom and Bathroom. I found out about the current renovation through third party websites when really they should inform people on their official website and also inform booking websites. This then gives people the true picture and is fully transparent and customers can then decide if they want to stay at the hotel. I did give the hotel the opportunity to refund my money 3 weeks ago when I heard about the refurbishment but the hotel refused to cancel the reservation and refund my money. On a positive note the staff were all very nice people and so was the Duty Manager. The engineer was also helpful.

Housed somewhere next to the hotel, air conditioning unusable. If you are not from England, you have to adjust significantly right at the reception.
