Where to start …
Maybelle - she was the one and only redeeming feature of an otherwise ghastly experience. Lovely smile and apology ... but that should have come from the management, because that's where the failings lay in my opinion.
Where to start ... I was sent four emails before I arrived. What a shame not one of those opportunities was used to advise me of where to park on arrival or of the ridiculously early closing time for breakfast ... on a Sunday ... 8.45am.
The message I get from my brief stay is 'we aren't really interested in one bed for one night'.
The car park is a parking lot for Gatwick Airport. Unbeknown to me, short stay visitors can park right next to the hotel in car park A. Thanks for telling us before check-in (that's sarcasm!). How challenging is it to add that to one of the four emails you sent me?
The hotel is devoid of human beings. Trying to find a member of staff when you needed one was almost impossible.
Signage - "your bedroom - 506 - is at the top of the stairs". And when you get half way up the stairs the sign says Rooms 508 ... that's kind of helpful as you then go back down to check you heard it correctly.
The bathroom was something else. It takes about 5 minutes for the water to run hot and when one person is in the shower and the another turns the sink tap on, the shower stops.
No loo brush. Why do hotels not give you the facility to clean your toilet? I hate to think of what housekeeping find on a daily basis. And while I know someone has to clean the toilet brush, surely that's the lesser of two evils?
Internet connection was as good as useless so I switched it off and went 4G.
But breakfast was the straw that broke this camels back. We came down on a Sunday morning at 9.02. To find breakfast closed at 9am and the last entry time was 8.45. My wife and I are 69 years old and diabetic (both of us). We needed to eat. We had to rush out, in search of somewhere serving breakfast and we were in the middle of nowhere. I have never - NEVER - known a hotel to stop breakfast so early on a Sunday morning and truly feel the hotel should have flagged this to us - either in an email prior to arrival, or at reception when we checked in. There is a notice to the left of the reception counter - along with so many other notices both on the reception area and the rear wall, I would be asking what is it I'm supposed to read in my five minutes getting my key? It is a complete failure of management to take a booking for breakfast - which we did in advance online - and then not adequately advise YOUR guests of the peculiar timings. At my age I've used hotels a lot and in my experience this is extraordinary and so the responsibility must fall on the hotel to advise us. They obviously couldn't be bothered, which goes back to an earlier point about not really wanting two people for one night.
Buyer beware was never more apt.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. We had a terrible stay. We got put into a ground floor patio room which had a UPVC door with a large window, which offered no privacy to the outside as the curtain was too small for the window. To exacerbate things, on the outside was a bright light which stayed on all night and flooded our room with light when we were trying to sleep (see photo taken at 02:26am,). The result was we got no sleep whatsoever. In addition to this the room was really hot with no temperature control, and with just a small window to allow for ventilation. The problem with this is that the window was right next to the entrance door handle, so if it was open anyone from outside could just reach in and unlock the door from the outside. No security at all. Therefore we had to keep the window shut. This is easily the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The hotel have refused to offer us any sort of refund. I strongly advise you not to book this hotel, it is definitely not worth the money and you will probably not be given a proper hotel room.

Stayed on the 14th & 15th August 2026 for family gathering. Hotel is extremely outdated. Bar doesn’t open till 4pm. Breakfast finished at 9am. No air con and doors and windows wouldn’t open to allow any air into the room. Thankfully we had taken our own fan but that was pointless as it just moved the hot air around the room.
Our main issue was upon checkout when the hotel overcharged more than 1 person, then denied this, claiming the price has nothing to do with them, even with email confirmation on what should have been the price, Sam on the desk was so unhelpful and rude. Overtalked uou at every chance he had to be even more rude.
Certainly wouldn’t recommend this place, budget hotel to the fullest with rude staff.
