Best Western The Delmere Hotel

Positives - convenient location to Paddington station and Hyde Park. Rooms were updated, clean and quiet. They have a free coffee machine in the lobby for guests. Negatives - the hotel air conditioning is completely inadequate for actual hot weather. Unfortunately we were staying here during a period of 30+ degree days. Despite the air conditioner being set to 18, the coolest our room got was 26 and then climbed throughout the night up to 29. We contacted reception staff thinking that it was malfunctioning but was told it was working and that it was just that we were on the top floor which made it hotter and we were given a small desk fan. After a largely sleepless night we were ultimately switched to a new room on a lower floor the following night which was an improvement but the temperature still only got down to 25-26. The staff were very good in handling the situation and doing what they could to assist but just be aware when booking that the airconditioning doesn’t hold up in hot weather.

Good location. Close to Paddington station and Hyde Park so fairly convenient to access anywhere in London. Heathrow Express to Paddington Station and a few minutes walk to Hotel. Off of main street but close to restaurants and some shops. My room was fairly small and somewhat expected. Hotel meets Best Western standards and well run. Breakfast fairly small, but pleasant and gets you off to quick good start to your day with attendants pleasant and helpful.

Very surprised by the positive reviews. The rooms are extremely small, even for London. The decor is impersonal, and the staff does the bare minimum. We received no explanation regarding the housekeeping service before we were later blamed for not following instructions that had never been communicated to us. The value for money is clearly disappointing. As a regular at Best Western hotels, I believe this establishment does not deserve the title "Premier" at all. The only real positive point remains the proximity to the subway.
