I gave Bailey’s Hotel London three stars, but 2.5 would be more appropriate. We stayed there for four nights in July, 2026 and here is my, hopefully fair, assessment.
First, good stuff:
Hotel is very conveniently located right next to the “tube” and at walking distance to many central locations.
Rooms are kept clean and supplied with all necessities.
Now, not so good stuff:
My main beef with the hotel is that they are, to be blunt, devious. Here is what happened: I hate small rooms where you have to squeeze yourself between the bed and the wall to go to the bathroom and your luggage takes 90% of the remaining free floor space. That’s why I ordered “Classic Double Room” which is decent 25 sq. meters. After some wait (our flight landed in early morning) smiling receptionist informed my that “Your Classic Double Room is waiting for you". It struck me as a little strange that she kept repeating words “Classic Double room” every time she mentioned something: “…your Classic Double Room has complimentary coffee machine”, “… your Classic Double Room has free Wi-Fi”, etc. But when we finally enter our room, the reason was obvious: it wasn’t Classic Double Room – it was “Small Double Room”, which is only 12 sq. meter – less than a half of the “Classic”. I immediately went back to reception and told them that they gave us a wrong room. Receptionist kept smiling and insisted that I’m mistaken and room is “classic” and it’s 25 sq. meters. Problem with that was not only that I’m quite capable of telling apart 12 sq. meter room from 25 sq. meter room, but that their OWN website shows this room as “Small Double” and that “Classic” - on their own photos! - looks very different. After some back and forth, I was told to come again to reception tomorrow at 1 p.m. ("...we are fully booked at the moment") and I’ll be shown another “Classic” room. Next day at 1 p.m. I showed up at reception only to be told “since you are already in a “classic” room, showing you another one would be a waste of time”. That’s when I finally dropped my polite tone and said that I want to speak to the manager. Receptionist promptly called the manager and after brief, hushed conversation with him, I was shown “identical” room. Sure enough, that was the right one: 25 sq. meters and even blind man could see that. So, we settled there.
I’m still pissed off that hotel had the audacity of such a blatant and insulting lie, straight into my face about such an obvious thing…
But that’s not where “not so good things" end. Staying there you have a general feeling that hotel isn’t managed well - may seem like trifling things, but they are telling. Here are some examples:
In our first “small” room safety box was just sitting at the very bottom of the closet, so in order to reset and enter a new code I had to lie on my stomach on the floor and use phone’s flashlight to make the entries
AC. In our new room AC wasn’t working. Hotel’s technician came, turned it “on” and told us to give him a call if AC is insufficient. And it was. Couple hours later he came back with the portable AC unit that somewhat resolve the heat problem. He told us that because of the extreme heat (it has been 35C for days) AC can’t produce cold enough air. I know a little bit about AC and can tell – hotel’s AC not only can’t produce cold enough air, but also can’t produce necessary VOLUME of it. My estimate, hotel’s AC is capable of producing only about 15% - 20% volume of what’s really required – at any weather.
That portable AC, solving one problem, created another one of its own! Its exhaust 8" pipe was fed outside through the raised window sash. But window is 3 feet wide and the remaining gap hasn't been closed by any kind of a screen. So, you ended up with 8" by 32" gap letting all the hot air back into the room! My solution was to block that gap with two decorative pillows we had in the room!
Our new room had another advantage: it was facing “outside”, while our first one was facing “inside” – i.e. hotel’s inner courtyard, which is chocked-full with compressors, ventilators and such, all producing insane and constant amount of noise - day and night. Make sure your room IS NOT facing inside, if you know what’s good for you.
Other small things: panel with power sockets on the wall almost came off when I pull on a plugged phone charger – I had push panel back to keep it from completely falling off the wall.
Breakfast is mediocre at best, my advice is to find something better (we were able to find a nice café nearby).
Bottom line: you may get lucky, especially if weather is mild or even on a chilly side, but that was my last stay in Bailey’s…

Wonderful 3 days at The Bailey's Hotel London. At check in Aksana told us that 1 of the rooms of the 3 that we booked would be a short 20 minute wait, which was understandable, since we arrived almkst 1 hr. before check in. Her manager called within the next minute (as if they overheard the conversation) and they assigned a room immediately. Breakfast at The Bailey's was a seemless experience. The staff anticiaptes your every need. They must be trained to losten in carefully and/or watch our body langjage because it seemed as if we had a thought about something, a staff member would appear. Tiegest, one of the wait staff, was particularly intuitive and professional. One of my adult kids was contemplating getting coffee, and Tiegist appeared and asked if she would like some. I have no idea where she came from, necause the meal was nearly over, but there she was. She continually offered us things that we did not know were available. All of the staff was very polite and hospitable. Our rooms were quaint, and I loved the decor. The bar is a good place for a night cap after sightseeing all day.
