Dear Guest,
We are very concerned to read your review and are sorry that you felt unsafe and distressed during your visit.
Guest safety and hygiene are matters we take extremely seriously. The incident you mention outside the property was not connected to the hotel, however we understand how witnessing such behaviour could feel unsettling. Internally, all rooms are cleaned and inspected daily, and we regret that the condition of the rooms shown to you did not meet your expectations.
The £100 deposit is a standard refundable security deposit, clearly stated in our policies on Booking.com, and is returned in line with our stated timeframe. We do not retain deposits unfairly, and any refund timelines may depend on banking processes.
We are sorry that you chose not to stay and that this experience impacted your trip. We remain committed to maintaining appropriate standards and will review your comments with our team.
Kind Regards,
Manager

The property is very easy to find and situated near the park. The staff are very polite and lovely. The hotel itself is very nice but needs a little work.

Checked in on 24th June so the beginning of the red alert for heat. I'd booked a single room because I had a budget and I was in London for work with very late finishes and the location was good from where I was working.
Checked in, paid my deposit which I knew about from numerous emails from the hotel (via Booking.com) and went up to my room. It was tiny and it was on the second floor in the attic area. It was absolutely roasting, not helped by a full sized fridge being in the room. The window was in the roof and tilted open and so having left the window open all night I was woken with the sun streaming through at 5am due to the slant of the window and that was me awake then until around 3am the next day due to my working hours (12 hours in the searing heat outside London Stadium) and so I made the decision to ask to be relocated.
This wasn't an issue at all. I left my things at reception and said I wouldn't be back until around 1.30am and that was fine. When I returned to reception after work I was given my new key, given my luggage and lead part of the way to my new room then left to find it alone. The place is like a maze and very difficult to find your way anywhere.
I got into the room - it was a double, there was jo fridge this time and there were two doors inside. One was the bathroom, and I opened the second which wasn't locked and it led to a staircase and a door at the bottom. The light was on in there constantly and I have absolutely no idea where it went or who had access. It was quite worrying but at least I had a room that had proper windows albeit with light curtains which are never ideal in a hotel as you want the dark to sleep well.
On closer inspection of my room I then saw a load of tiny flies all over the white bedding. I don't think they were mosquitos as I didn't get any bites and they usually like to bite me, but it was very annoying. By this stage I was exhausted, physically and mentally and just needed to sleep to prepare for my next long shift at work so I spent the night on the bed as getting in was impossible due to the heat. I had brought my own mini air con unit anyway as I was anticipating the heat, and without that for my time there I may not have survived as there was no fan offered even in a red heat alert.
I spent four nights in total and I couldn't wait to leave. I didn't get noise from the hotel, just from the street outside (loud music at 5am one night) but the smell of weed was strong in the corridors to my first room and the ground floor had a cigarette smoke smell throughout - hilarious for a hotel that charges £100 deposit for damage which I'm sure includes smoking.
It was just a weird setup - shabby, no consistency to the building layout, broken fixtures and tired fittings and the icing on the cake was a used bar of soap that had been left on top of the electric shower unit from a previous occupant of my room. Staff were OK, not overly friendly though but some were rather abrupt rather than welcoming.
I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone to stay in. I feel like I need to wash everything that was there with me as soon as I get home! I'm glad I brought some slippers with me so my feet didn't need to touch the carpet!
Photos show both rooms I was in during my stay.
