When booking this hotel,was not informed about the works in progress. There was nowhere to stop to drop luggage off. Work vans and scaffolding all out front disguising the entrance. Also a Unite protest outside. Inside is impressive. Reception staff helpful. Breakfast's are good. Only booked this hotel because it's dog friendly and the location.

Unfortunately a very disappointing stay compared to last year. I would give an Average rating for the stay considering the higher price, brought down to Poor for bad customer experience/after care. I stayed for work purposes, delivering a conference session the next day. I stayed in Room 442 - the door didn’t shut without being heavily slammed. The refrigerator made intermittent noises throughout the night. The room was noisy at bedtime, into the night from the nearby bars. I rang down to ask how long the bars stayed open to / noise was likely to last. I was provided with ear plug but unfortunately they weren’t effective. This was stressful knowing the workload the next day. There was a contact lens on the wall of the shower from a previous guest (I don’t wear contact lenses) which questions thoroughness of clean. The conference dinner service was poor. Arriving in the ballroom, no alcohol free drink was available as a welcome drink - I was told I would have to go back upstairs to ask (I couldn’t get back up the stairs because of the queues coming down). During the meal I asked a staff member for DF butter for the table and no one ever came back. The vegetarian and GF mains came out for guests on a cold plate over 5 minutes before the meat option arrived, so meals were cold by the time we all ate together. I emailed feedback to the Kimpton from my booking reservation. I received a bounce back as it is a non monitored inbox. I contacted IHG customer services via my account - the only option was via chat message, taking up more time than the original email. I was told I would have a response from the hotel manager within 3 days. This didn’t happen. I logged back into my account and spoke to another advisor, who said they would send a reminder. I asked if they could email me the case number in case needed, to which they said they weren’t allowed to email me. I still haven’t had a response in the 6 weeks i contacted IHG. Today I logged on and could not find record of my case. I could only find the AI chat box function to try to contact - the AI bot said they understood the questions but wasn’t trained to respond. I then was sent to a text message customer service line which hasn’t responded. The poor stay experience becomes a very frustrating one with bad customer service.

Dur to rail disruption me and mum stayed the night last minute. 5 star hotel for a. Incredible price. What a beautiful historic building and rooms were terrific and we were upgraded. But the negatives beariing iin mind it's a 5 star hotel. Terrance Bar shut, staff werent particularly friendy,, the bathroomt light didnt work and the TV was flickering all over the place.
