The Stag Enfield

Clean bedding and towels. Room needs a good clean. Had to clean the shower trap myself as the bathroom flooded. Bathroom blind mouldy. No opening window. Another couple had the room code and walked in as we were coming out of the shower. With a bit of work this could be a real asset to Enfield. Decent mattresses. A proper cleaning service. Proper curtains etc. It's a 1 star at best.

Poor security - I was given codes for two entry locks (for the main outside, and for the room). There is no outside lock, and random people from the street come in and wander through the halls at night. No hot water, at all. Broken window in the room. Bathroom window had no curtains, no frosted glass, so taking a shower (had there been hot water) and using the toilet was visible to the outside and houses opposite. Clapped out mattress with springs poking through the thin top. No one replies to emails; no one on site for any contact or issues. Avoid. Response to my email for a refund was to ask me to leave a review on their website. No response to my request for a refund.

We booked The Stag for one night and upon arrival, were warned by the cleaner that the room did not have any curtains or blinds. We also booked a private bathroom but there was no such thing. The room was small and overlooked the main busy town. There were stains all over the carpets and a pile of stained pillows on the floor along with a toilet brush on the carpet. We decided not to check in as there was zero privacy and attempted to contact the proprietor numerous times but were met with radio silence. We also emailed them to complain and also Booking.com as that is whom we booked through. This has ruined our holiday experience as we’ve had to spend countless hours attempting to obtain a refund. What hotel doesn’t have curtains or blinds? This room was not fit for purpose and should not have been sold to us. I 100 percent do not recommend this hotel!
