I arrived, was warmly welcomed, the Roch is a historic building, a old stone built, YWCA (Renovated) has a real relaxed , homey atmosphere and the staff, was great there was a BIG game between Scotland and England 60k fans the manager Smiling dude with flaming red hair gave me his tickets for 1/2 price (In Scotland that's considered "Giving"), My room looked up to the Edinburgh Castle, I am a amputee and everything night life, restaurants, stores, famous historic sites was/is in walking distance. Took a great bus/boat tour up to Loc Ness, Whiskey distilleries on the way back. Stayed 10 day's could have easily much longer made to feel like part of the family.

Stayed here during the fringe festival. Location was great. Rooms were spacious with each bed having its own power outlet. View of Castle from dorm room was great, although meant quite loud at night due to bars below.
Still appeared to be under going renovation so the downstairs cafe was a building site.
Only let down were the staff who were grumpy and unhelpful.

Located within a stone throw distance from the Edinburgh Castle, this hostel is housed in a vintage era stone building. Go inside the alleys and its a maze till you find your rooms. Good place to stay if you're travelling in groups. Parking is on the street outside and it has to be renewed every one hours after 8 a.m. Not a good idea if you go partying the previous night and you find a parking ticket when you wake up. Suggest you find the nearest NCP. Linens are neat and fresh. Washrooms are clean for a busy hostel. Free wifi in the lobby.
