BEST WESTERN PLUS BRUNTSFIELD

We had an amazing time at this hotel. I am in a wheelchair and my Husband is my carer as well. The facilities were great, the breakfast choice ample and delicious, the hotel clean and the staff happy to help you in any way they could. Nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile. Bus stops were nearby with numerous buses into central Edinburgh. If in Edinburgh again(given we live in Spain) we would definitely stay at The Bruntsfield. We were fortunate to meet the manager and suggested to him to have a key press on the outside of the bar door where the ramp is to let you in (for wheelchair users). This door is locked from 11pm so if coming back later you have to buzz and call the night receptionist down to let you in. A key press would prevent this. Obviously any code would need to be changed and if you were able to give your name and room number this would make it more secure. Overall though this hotel deserves more than 5 stars.

4 Star Hotel ( More like 3 and 1/4 ) A little, quite far from the Tourist Center which would be the Royal Mile area and Edinburgh Castle. To arrive on time for the scheduled excursions, always running and depending on the punctuality of the Uber. Well, the meeting points for excursion departures and city tours practically all leave from that area!! At the hotel, not a single receptionist or waiter who spoke Spanish. Our room was quite small and the bathroom matched the room. To access the shower, you had to step into a bathtub of Olympic jump height. Hair dryer, no outlet in the bathroom. Not all rooms are the same, since the other couple of friends we traveled with, Their room was very spacious and well-renovated, with a bathroom almost as big as our room, with a large shower that was easy to access. Amenities, only gel and shampoo in dispensers. They leave 2 glass bottles of about 33cl of water and some small sweets that they replenish daily. No minibar, nor a fridge for cooling. No air conditioning, nor climate control. Heating radiators for the winter. They leave the window open every day to freshen the room. In Scotland, it is assumed that air conditioning is not needed, but with current temperatures, they will have to look into it. There was a fan with a rather annoying noise. Cleanliness was conspicuous by its absence. We would leave a small piece of paper on the bathroom floor, and it would still be there when we returned to the room!! The breakfast buffet was quite limited, and you could order hot dishes like eggs, bacon, sausages, etc., from table service. Something quite scarce. For example, if you ordered bacon, they only served you 1 strip, (it must be for dieting) If I were to return to Edinburgh, I would consider going to another accommodation that is more central, cleaner, and more complete for what is theoretically a four-star hotel.

We stayed at the Brunstfeld at the beginning and end of our recent trip to Scotland and it was a perfect place to stay. From the get go the staff was so kind and helpful and especially Bogi at the front desk helped me manage a third party booking issue with advice that helped me save paying for an extra night as we changed our itinerary! We loved the location so much just on the historic meadows park and near very lively restaurants and shops and easy buses to get everywhere (including the airport). Great spacious rooms, and super clean. Great prices too. Was a perfect homebase for our trip.
