Martin's Guesthouse

I absolutely loved my stay at Martin's Guest House. It felt incredibly welcoming from the beginning and my room on the top floor was very cozy. Thank you so so much to the owner for the warm welcome, the flexibility with the extended stay and the delicious breakfast. I think this is the best place to stay in Edinburgh and would highly recommend it. It is on a quiet street but with great transport links to the city centre, shops and cafes nearby, and fabulous views from the top floor. It will feel like a home away from home. I honestly did not want to leave.

I was going to book a hotel, but came across Martins Guest House. So glad I did, it was perfect, clean, great location, parking, great breakfast, but most of all The Martin team were amazing, kind, professional and so efficient, highly recommend.

We stayed 4 nights chez Martins Guesthouse having selected it at short notice - and so pleased that we did. We can be a fussy couple but there was nothing to be concerned with here. The entrance to the property is so reassuring if not alluring - spotless, crisp small garden and the entrance adorned with lights and flowers. The decor is well thought out, appealing and without blemish. So too the rooms - we stayed in Room 6 with en-suite and plenty of space. The air of cleanliness abounds and so places you at immediate ease throughout your stay. While coffee/tea etc is in your room, the breakfast room downstairs offers 24/7 fresh milk, juice, chilled water and some snacks. You are getting the picture - proprietors Stephen and Sam have thought through everything from the perspective of their guests, and delivered handsomely. They are particularly welcoming and their friendly, generous stance is surpassed only by their sausage dog Woody (aka Bay City Rollers fame) who is always on hand to offer a friendly bark or two. Finally, the two bus routes in/out of the city centre stop 25m either side of Martins Guesthouse. Yes, the overnight rate is a tad expensive and the wi-if needs wider coverage. But to sleep so well in such clean surroundings and then descend each morning to the best prepared breakfast you could imagine (and plenty of choice), well we shall be back, in a heartbeat. You should too - it is fab.
