The Place Hotel Edinburgh

I have stayed here before for a lot less with a better room and lovely breakfast. This time I am staying alone, in an attic room, no lift, no air conditioning, a fan that collapsed to the floor when taking it out to turn on. Arrived at 11.02pm and told I could not order a drink at the bar that closed at 11pm, the bedroom is tiny, bed slopes downward to the head of the bed (expecting a headache) and for £227.70 after booking.com Genius discount for 1 night breakfast is not included. I would definitely recommend the Premier Inn just a few doors away that will offer bigger rooms, beds that are definitely more comfortable and a lift to the top floor. I come to Edinburgh for work quite regularly and I won't be staying here again.

The front desk staff were beyond outstanding! Especially Mirren. I had three stays there in an 11 day period while touring. They were outstanding with help and advice. If you are doing small bus tours through Scotland, the terminal is less than 5 min away! I’m not an effusive reviewer, but these folks were clearly above. 99% of the hotel staffs I’ve dealt with in 5o years of international travel.

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The location is excellent and very convenient for exploring the area. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Although there is no air conditioning, a fan was provided, which was helpful. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. We also appreciated that even though there was no lift, but the staff kindly offered to deliver our luggages directly to our rooms, which made things much easier. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others!
