To confirm, my stay was for my birthday. Since becoming pregnant and having my child I haven’t been able to do much with the health complications I endured. This has meant I have not been able to get out much and it’s had an impact. This booking was a treat for my birthday to spend with my family. I used my maternity pay to book this and pay a dog sitter for my dogs at home. Which has made me out of pocket. I was extremely looking forward to staying away.
Upon arriving we, me and partner, found out we had been placed on the top floor (which was not advertised on the website) with no lift and several flights of stairs. This was despite me adding a cot to the stay automatically notifying the owner/host we are a family and have a small child 3month old. This put pressure on my husband to carry everything up the stairs as I can not lift anything right now, mentioning the stairs aggravated my fibromyalgia in my hips, knees and back.
Due to this we ended up not bringing all off our things upstairs and only using the essentials, this made it a inconvenience for me to be able to pump as i am breast feeding and feed my baby and being able to adequately steralise syringes and bottles to feed my baby as we had to boil water in a pan to steralise bottles this has caused distress and inturn affected my milk supply.
Not to mention my husband who already has a manual job thought this was going to be relaxing for him also.
Despite the poor start I was still hopeful and excited for the stay however once entering the property you naturally want to settle and look around. Once you headed up the stairs to the main bedroom before even opening the door you could smell a strong ammonia odour. This got worse the moment you opened the door. It was awful. I of course immediately let the owner know. When the house keeper arrived she agreed there was a smell but could not identify where or what is it. I informed her we will not be able to stay in this room or use the cot due to this reason.
The other room had 2 small single beds which we pushed together in the hope we would feel closer as this stay was becoming a nightmare. Thank goodness I had brought my baby’s moses basket which we had to use for him to sleep in. I felt awful my baby didn’t have as much room but there wasn’t anything we could do.
As well as issues with the rooms, smell and cleanliness the appliances available were also not as expected. The kettle for example was extremely full of lime scale when a pack of descaler is around £1-£2 and you don't have to do anything?! How did they expect anyone to use the boiling water coming out of this, if I didn't have my child I would have happily not bothered however I needed to sterile his things which is important. The house keeper came to change the kettle and this still had limescale but not floating around.
Further to this, during our stay I started to notice a small rash on my back after the first night, on the left shoulder blade. This grew, became worse with a horrible sensation to itch. I have a doctors appointment to find out what it is. I believe this to be from the beds we slept in, as I had no other change to my routine. I didn’t go on the local beach/ in the water. I’m always well covered outside from the sun etc. Since been to the GP and been told to take antihistamine as its is a reaction to something from the stay, this has caused me distress as I am breastfeeding and this medicine will now transfer to my Baby and could make his poorly.
Overall this wasn't the stay we expected, the experience we had and the attitude towards our issues was poor to say the least. I have been suffering with my health including my mental health so I didn't need the stress or anxiety. I didn't get any sleep during the stay due to the room being extremely hot and having to put a breathing monitor on my baby to stop the cause of sudden infant death syndrome.
I became extremely sad and uncomfortable. All I did was cry the entire time. I'm here with my family we deserved a break for my birthday. We were excited and then we were the ones disappointed.

Lovely apartment, clean and beds were so comfortable.Quiet area, easy to walk to sea front and the views and sunset from top apartment are stunning. The steep stairs could be a problem with age or disability, but overall would book again

The two bedroom third floor flat is accessed by quite steep stairs which turn at the top so not good for anyone with mobility problems. Bathroom is a little jaded in finish but other than that we were delighted with the high quality and comfort of the apartment. The house is situated in a very quiet area with plenty of room outside for street parking.
It only takes a couple of minutes to walk to the sea front and miles of beautiful and changing beaches await your pleasure.
Sainsburys and Tesco close by and numerous delicatessen shops within a few miles along the coast.
We are thinking of returning again later this year.
