The Plough Inn

Mixed bag of results. One waitress was great other was miserable and rude. Amazing gluten free options at first glance however was told flatbread would be removed and not replaced with anything and full price would be charged. Disappointed. Was pleased to be told they could replace flatbread with a gluten free wrap but this was like cardboard and inedible. May I suggest the chef looks into warburtons pittas as these are soft and freeze well for storage. Overall the evening menu was disappointing with no healthy options. Pros were huge portions and tender meat.

Excellent food and service only spoilt by very tired outside space which was all that was available on a busy Sunday lunch. Tables very tatty and weeds growing everywhere. Shame when the inside is so nice.

Two seniors, meeting up with family, choose this hostelry for its convenient address. My review would have been five stars, were it not for one or two points that I will address later. Our welcome by Bella was very warm, and email discussions with the pub prior to our visit had been fully realised. Being of more senior years Bella happily carried our luggage up the quite steep stairs. The landings and our room were very well appointed, a little worn around the edges but everything you required was there. Delighted to find a fridge and a good fan, as of course this old pub did not have air conditioning. Nice ammenities in the bathroom, and everywhere spotless. Comfortable clean beds and even Sky television. The menus for our evening meal were excellent, with some very unusual dishes suggested. The food itself for a pub was first class, and the speed of service fine. Nothing was too much effort fro the lovely staff. Breakfast the next morning was also very very good. We were surprised how many guests were actually staying , but service was quick and efficent. Position of the pub on the main Cromer road is good and there is ceratinly a very adequate car park. So...why the four stars and not five. The exterior paintwork of the Plough is way beyod the need for a full re-paint, and really puts you off when you first arrive, which is actually very sad. Secondly the outside seating is in urgent need of repair and re-furbishment, and the garden borders are dreadful. The interior of the pub is fine....we were however surprised to find that there was no real lounge area, and the whole establishment appears to be set up for eating. Would we return ? Most certainly, but do hope the exterior is tidied up soon.
