Friars Rest Guest House

We have just arrived back from a two night stay at The Friars restaurant guest house in York. We were welcomed by the host , who showed us where to park. The location is perfect. Just a short 10 minute walk from the centre of York. The room was very clean and cool, the bed was really comfortable . The room included tea n coffee facil, a TV, towels, sockets were near the bed. There was also an electric fan in the room. The room wasn't too noisy at night too. The property is close to amenities such an a Sainsburys local, cafes and takeaways. There's a lovely pub across the road, which is cheaper than pubs in the centre of York. Also Weatherspoons is about 5 mind down the road into York. We will definitely visit this property again. Thanks for a delightful stay

A really great place to stay in York, room was immaculate withh some really nice touches and accessories such as a fan, and hairdryer provided. The en suite bathroom was very modern too, can't fault anything really and our host Steve was very friendly. Breakfast isn't an option but there's a wetherspoons a five minute walk away so this really isn't a problem. Only thing to be aware of is if you want be right in the middle of thing its about a 10 min walk to the centre where The Shambles if you like to be in the centre of things. Personally I prefer to be a mile or so away from the centre where its quieter so this suited my wife and I perfectly.

Stayed here from the 14th to 19th of June 2026. Room was lovely and clean.steve who we booked with direct was very helpful and welcoming and the room was a really good size with great ventilation as window in ensuite and large window in bedroom which was great as weather was hotter than usual for time of the year. Location was close to city centre and we also had free parking which was an added bonus. The price we paid for 5 nights was good value. We would definitely recommend to everyone and would stay there again.ourselves. so thank you so much Steve from Geoff and Gaynor.
