Hampton by Hilton York

We stayed At the Hampton by Hilton Piccadilly York for two nights in July having stayed here previously in March. This time however it was much different. On the plus side it's well situated, modern and clean. This was let down by the following :- 1. we were in the middle of a mini heatwave in the UK and our air conditioning didn't work. air conditioning is what I specifically looked for considering our present climate. We told reception about this and they said they would get an engineer to put it right on the main box. He told us not to touch the controls in the room. We didn't and it still didn't work. We complained the next day and it never was fixed during our stay. In hindsight we should have asked for a different room but the reception staff gave us no encouragement do do so. 2. The retro fridge felt like it was going to fall over. 3. The shower although immaculate and clean was very slippy and dangerous when wet. We asked for a shower mat at our "helpful reception" and was told when we come back in grab one and take it up to the room. I filled in the feedback form that the hotel sent me about 2 weeks ago with the above honest comments and didn't get feedback from them. I suppose they are only interested in positive feedback. To sum up a total disappointment and lack of care.

Amazing stay! Friendly staff, cleanliness way exceptional, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices to suit all. I would definitely book again.

Another stay while in York. Comfortable bed although for the first time of many previous stays the duvet cover and bed sheet seemed too small for the bed. A very good location and quiet. As always a great breakfast. Am sure we will stay again. Reception staff as helpful and efficient as always.
