The Victoria Hotel

We looked for somewhere to ear in Alston. We found the Victoria Inn. What a find! The food was excellent. Good value, good surroundings and very pleasant and welcoming staff. Well worth the visit and the next time we are in the area we will visit again.

Me, my partner and our two huskies travelled from Ireland to Alston to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and what a great relaxing experience we had from the moment we arrived.Gym and playing field approximately 5mins walk, train station, cafe and musuem 9minute walk, nunhead mines approximately 9mins drive. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. The pub is very warm and inviting and in a great location for avid ramblers, cyclists and anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. We will definitely be coming back again The room was very spacious especially with two large huskies in with us, there is a Smart TV, tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe and cabinet space, and an en suite with shower, and despite the hotel being on the high street its extremely quiet at night. The bed is extremely comfy (probably too comfy as i kept napping every time I laid down on it), the room was very clean and tidy as well. Great selection of draught beer and cider. Being from Ireland i can vouch that the guinness is very good, even with a shamrock ontop in the foam. The food is like nothing else on offer in the town!! The burgers are absolutely amazing as are all the sides and bites. "Yes sir, I can boogie" burger is a must for anyone dining in the pub! They also offer pub classics like fish and chips, sheppards pie, lasagna and sausage and mash. A full English breakfast as well in the mornings with clearly good quality products. Excellent value for money

Great hotel and food. Very accommodating would recommend to anyone and those fellow walkers doing Pennine away .
