The best family-friendly restaurant we’ve found in Worksop We booked quite late, but the team kindly managed to fit our family in at 6pm. We had never visited before, and honestly, we were not sure what to expect. Since Covid, we have found the standard of many restaurants has dropped considerably. Before having children, my wife and I regularly ate at high-end restaurants and thought nothing of spending over £100 plus on a good evening meal. However, when you have three young children aged six and under, including a baby, you naturally become more reluctant to visit somewhere too formal. You never know when the youngest might start crying, and you do not want to spoil anyone else’s evening. The moment we walked into The Lion, my wife looked around at me with that expression that said, “This looks really nice.” The restaurant was quiet, with only one other couple dining at the time, and we were shown to our table by a fantastic server who was friendly, helpful and welcoming throughout. Then the food arrived, and we were genuinely blown away. We eat out fairly regularly and enjoy trying new places, but we are often left slightly disappointed. I usually think that I could cook something better myself, there is little point in paying restaurant prices. This time was completely different. The food, service, atmosphere and entire experience were absolutely spot-on. Everything we ordered was delicious. This is honestly the first time in years that I have left a restaurant feeling completely satisfied rather than disappointed. They have got everything right, and we will definitely be returning. My message to the restaurant is simple: please do not change anything, and make sure you hold on to your chef because he or she is truly exceptional. Hands down, the best family-friendly restaurant we have visited in Worksop. Highly recommended.
