The staff at check-in & breakfast were kind & welcoming, those were the only positives.
We left 1 day early after what was meant to only be a 2 night stay. The hotel either needs closing down for a total renovation or just knocking down. It's upkeep is very neglected and does not reflect the online photos that it advertises. One corridor upstairs was foul smelling if damp, we had to cover our noses, the carpet looked very questionable. The stairs & corridors aren't being hoovered daily, and it didn't look like our had been. I can see by other people's experiences on TripAdvisor that our room was no exception to the dirt, weariness & poor decor choices. Black hairs were all over our bed, bathroom, & surfaces. The room was stale & stuffy, opening the window didn't do much. Crumbs were on the bedside table, a dirty pull light cord above the bathroom sink, no soap in the grotty bathroom, the linen didn't smell or look fresh and underneath the mattress cover, which wasn't tucked in, is just a bare dirty stained hairy old mattress. I didn't use the drinks facilities in the room as I was so put off by the lack of hygiene, thank God we bought our own cup and drinks. There were several dead insects on the floor & stuck to the walls, skirting boards are covered in dust. Please see attached photo of the chair in our room which we dare not sit on. Breakfast was ok and the decor was better than the bedrooms but still tired looking, the staff were lovely. We couldn't wait to leave as soon as my husband returned from a meeting and decided not to stay the second night - hot showers are needed, our skin is crawling.
There was no point in asking for a change of room, especially after seeing other people's experiences and judging by the rest of the hotel, it looks like all the rooms are unsatisfactory. Also the decor choices are just bizarre and tacky. This was the worst hotel we've ever stayed in and can gladly say we won't ever return. Perhaps staff need a word with proud looking chairman, whose large portrait hangs proudly behind the main reception desk, I'd be ashamed to work for the company. We weren't asked how our stay was when checking out, and we weren't questioned as to why we were leaving a day early, perhaps the lady dare not ask for feedback from guests.

Me and my boyfriend went for a spa and afternoon tea day, and after looking at the reviews we were quite worried about the place. However, the majority of reviews didn’t reflect our experience at all. The spa was a typical hotel spa - large pool, lots of sunbeds with a small sauna and steam room. It was a very peaceful and welcoming environment with lovely staff, and clean changing rooms. The keys for the changing room were great and had no issues with lockers at all. The afternoon tea was lovely - 4 sandwiches each, a scone and selection of cakes with a pot of tea/coffee. Lovely presentation and staff were helpful and attentive.

As an Infiniti member of the Muthu group I booked a 3 night Spa stay at their Clumber Park Hotel near Sherwood Forest.
I had to find out on arrival on the Wednesday that since the Monday they had no heating in the Spa pool and they had problems with hot water in the hotel . The problem was fixed but it would take upto 36 hours for the pool to heat . On the Thursday they had further boiler issues which meant the restaurant could only serve a restricted menu . This slso affected the hot wster for showers etc . Our package included meals so we were affected but were not told until we went for dinner . The breakfast was basic with buffet style including setting your own tables . The produce was cheap and of poor quality . The Spa facilities for coffee and tea were broken and had been for some time we were told . The only option was to go to the other end of the hotel if you wanted something . My wife paid for a full massage which was amateurish at best snd not inexpensive. We had the executive room which was extra . It overlooked a waste shed and rubbish dump . The shower had black mold . The premises are old and unkempt with stained carpets , overgrown gutters and rotting windows and sills .
We decided to cut our stay and left Friday morning but not before getting the chance to speak with a junior manager who went on to say none of it was their fault and there was no senior management to be seen.
This hotel is far from picturesque .
