De Vere Venues Milton Hill House

We stayed at the Manor House while attending a wedding at a nearby venue. The house itself is lovely and has clearly been nicely renovated in the communal areas. The bar area and outdoor space in particular are fantastic and make a great impression when you arrive. Unfortunately, the experience changed considerably when we got to our room. We had specifically booked and paid for a Deluxe room, but there was absolutely nothing about the room that felt Deluxe. In fact, the condition of the room was one of the biggest disappointments of our stay. The room was extremely tired and felt like it was in need of significant refurbishment. There were stains and marks throughout, including on the ceilings and in the bathroom, and the general condition made the room feel run down and poorly maintained. The flooring was particularly concerning. The floorboards were uneven and appeared damaged in places, with a very tired carpet covering them. In some areas, the floor felt so uneven that it genuinely gave the impression that you could potentially fall through it. This is not what we expected from a room described and charged as Deluxe. For a room carrying a Deluxe label and price tag, we expected a noticeably higher standard of accommodation. Instead, the room felt dated, worn and in places quite poor in condition. The contrast between the beautifully presented communal areas and the state of the bedroom was particularly disappointing. On the positive side, breakfast was nice and all of the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant. Overall, the Manor House has some fantastic communal spaces and clearly has a lot of potential. However, the bedrooms, at least the Deluxe room we were given, are not currently at the standard we would expect for the price. If you are paying a premium for a Deluxe room, I would expect the room itself to feel premium — unfortunately, ours did not.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We found the prices were excellent for this quality of hotel. Old world charm with modern amenities. Pet friendly. We were able to order off the restaurant menu but eat in the bar so we could keep our dog with us. Food and drinks were perfection. Would highly recommend.
