THE KINGS ARMS HOTEL

The room itself was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and fresh, soft white towels in the bathroom. Unfortunately, everything after that was disappointing. We had a pre‑arranged dinner booking, confirmed by phone the previous week, yet the restaurant was closed when we arrived. The hotel denied any knowledge of our calls, and the website is out of date with no mention that the restaurant closes on Mondays. Overall, it’s a tired hotel in need of updating, and the staff would benefit from better training—particularly in customer care.

Booked via web app but not hotel web site as staff at hotel said cheaper. Left messages and called hotel numerous times via numerous methods. . No emails or messages responded to. One call confirmed restaurant open Mondays. (As per website site) ordered a special menu. Staff member said fine. Turned up to find no restaurant open. Lied that never had the message. Reception not interested in helping out 4 hungry men. Offered £3 off breakfast. Hotel is tired, under new ownership and needs a good update. Needs on the ball staff and a new web site that reflects true state. There is a car park. Average bar but as they denied to serve us as requested and agreed we ate and drank elsewhere. Room was large, bed fine, bathroom needs a refit and plumbing needs sorting. No water pressure on higher rooms. Hot water came out of wrong tap. Toilet coming loose from floor. Safety doors good on each floor but emergency lighting on the blink. Probably my review would have been better if the admin and reception were better managed. Hopefully new owner will improve visitor experience in time.
