Mercure Eastgate Hotel Oxford

I'll admit I almost booked elsewhere after reading some of the negative reviews for this hotel. I'm so glad I didn't - our weekend break at the Mercure Oxford Eastgate was excellent from start to finish. There's no air conditioning, but powerful fans were provided in every room and kept things perfectly comfortable. What really stood out was the staff: genuinely helpful and happy to go out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, including tips on how to make the most of our time in the city. Breakfast was hearty and set us up well for a day of exploring. The location is the icing on the cake - just a few minutes' walk from everything Oxford city centre has to offer, which made for a brilliant summer weekend. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

Disappointing and uncomfortable room with no air conditioning. Unable to sleep as a result and unpleasant to spend time in the room

Location is good. We were given level 1 and no air conditioning during summer and heat wave. Fans provided helps a little but not great. Windows opened in the night but noisy. Bathroom is spacious but lack hooks for clothings and bath towels.
