AVOID AVOID AVOID. I booked in here as a solo traveller last week. Within seconds of walking in, I could smell the stale cigarette smoke downstairs. I was given Room 5, a single room, which is at the back of the hotel, so doesn't get much light. Not a deal-breaker in itself, but upon entering, I smelled a strong sickly-sweet aroma, almost like vomit. There was a dying plant on the desk. The window would not open to air the room. There was rubbish underneath the bed and a weird stain on the carpet. I'm not particularly fussy about my accommodation, but knew that I didn't want to stay here. I phoned the guesthouse up the road to see if they had a spare room, and thankfully they did. When I spoke to the staff member at Kirkmichael Hotel, he was apologetic and said he'd arrange a refund. Despite emailing, the refund has never materialised, and they haven't replied to my email. P.S Try Strathardle Lodge instead, it's great.

Very welcoming and warm! Ralph and Lindsey were brilliant, so lovely! Doggo friendly which is bonus, great pint selection. Would definitely recommend to friend if they were visiting! Ralph even told us to visit Pitlochry on the way home and was telling us about the history of the village. Fire place is great and lovely wee pub.

The management were very friendly accommodating and helpful. The rooms were very clean and warm. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere in the bar. and the Guinness was very good!!! Plenty of towels and hot water always available. Would definitely stay there again.
