Lion Quays Hotel & Spa

We booked our Wedding at Lion Quays 2 years ago, and last weekend was our Wedding day!!! For once I am speechless, everything was so organised and we couldn’t have asked for more from the Staff, everyone went above and beyond, the wedding rooms looked stunning!! The food was also amazing big shoutout to the chefs. Special mention to Sophie, Dan and John for making the day run so smoothly and delivering for us our perfect day!!! Thank you for everything!!! Love Eileen and Ant xx

I can't praise the staff, Sophie our wedding organiser and Dan, our toastmaster on the day and John. You all made our day run perfectly, leaving us stress free and able to enjoy the day. All our guests loved the food and the location and had the most fabulous day.

I don't usually write reviews, but after our spa experience I feel compelled to. To start with I want to say that the Spa Team are great, and our treatments were lovely and this review is in no way a reflection on them. It's been about 8 years since we last came here, it was clean, well maintained and we enjoyed our visit. Unfortunately, that can no longer be said. The spa and leisure area are very poorly maintained, I would even say run down l, and a breach of health and safety. The list of maintenence issues we came across are too exhaustive to be written in one review, but we will list a few. In the relaxation room, which had the fire door propped open by fire extinguishers (not the only place where we saw this) there are live wires with caps on protruding above one of the beds. There are curtains missing, and the blankets feel like old scratchy towels. The thermal area had 2 facilities closed, and the others should be. The room with the hanging heated beds has a socket at the back hanging off the wall. The sauna had one light not working and the timer is broken. The steam room has more missing mosaic tiles than actual existing tiles. There are multiple broken doors, patches on the ceiling, dusty vents and the plant room door was left open and ajar. The loungers looked like they need to be taken outside and jet washed. The area around the leisure pool is grim. The glass balconies on either side of the pool haven't seen glass cleaner for many years. The vents are again full of dust, there are dirty patches on the ceiling, and broken doors. The paint on the area over the pool is all peeling. There are 2 showers by the pool, one has no light and in the other one the tiles are all falling off by the floor, and the shower isn't completely attached. There are more spotlights not working than working, that seems to be a running theme throughout. Above the jacuzzi, only 2 of 7 lights work, 1 has no bulb at all, and the rail into the jacuzzi is loose. More worryingly is the wire that comes from one of the underwater lights is out of the pool and is propped on the side with a cap on. Honestly, we could go on. The owners are risking the health and safety of their guests. They seem to lack basic maintenance, and cleaning. Any maintenance that has been done can only be described as shoddy at best. Clearly, there is no love for the property and it is being used as a cash cow. I'm unsure what they are building as you drive in, but the money would be better spent on the existing facilities. We didn't complain at the hotel as we won't be returning under the current management, or in its current state.
