We had a lovely stay at the Dundonell Hotel as part of our NC500 trip. So friendly and welcoming with nice public areas, a clean room and comfortable bed. We had dinner at the hotel as no other options and we were glad we did. It was very good, fresh and tasty. An added bonus was the live folk music session after dinner. The hotel is very old fashioned and it is well overdue refurbishment. If you know that before you go and set your expectations accordingly then you won't be disappointed. In short I would recommend a stay here for the fabulous views, friendly people and lovely food.

I feel bad writing such a negative review as the staff were very pleasant, however this is a truly awful hotel for the price despite a beautiful location. Everything is very run down, peeling wallpaper, chipped tiles and furniture and decor from the 1960’s. We paid £160 for a room when the true price should be about £80 for this level of accommodation. The quaint looking yellow building shown in the pictures is closed and much of the hotel buildings are derelict. Internet poor, no TV in room or hotel lounge. Food is very poor for the price ( never had vegetables with such a strange texture!) but it’s a 40 minute drive to the nearest restaurant so not much choice! Avoid!

A shabby rundown hotel with awful food. The WiFi did not work, there was no decent beer, the wine list consisted of 2 whites and 2 reds of poor quality. Very disappointing breakfast. The worst hotel on NC500 but more expensive than most.
