Best Western Normanton Park Hotel

Super little hotel with the best setting right on the water , so enjoyed our time here lovely meals,friendly staff and a super location

I stayed at this hotels for 2 nights for business. Firstly, the check-in person was not available and the person in the office didn't look pleased when no one was there to check me rather than he do it himself, however, he may have been busy I suppose. The room is large but dated!, furthermore, this must be the only hotel (bigger brand) that does not have a fridge in its rooms, even the premier inn have fridges!. The cleanliness is something to be desired. The amount of cobwebs is poor, I went around with a towel and brushed as many as I could away (sadly, forgot to take photos!). The room was very warm, however, given that there is a heatwave ongoing it can't be helped but they did provide a fan which slightly helped. The best thing about this hotel is the location right next to Rutland Water and as a keen runner I love this part!. However, on my first morning after my run I got back to the hotel approx 0640ish to find the reception door locked!, I couldn't get in and phoned the reception about 7 or 8 times with no answer. Eventually an employee starting work in the morning met me attempting to get in after 10 minutes of phoning. Would I stay here again, probably not.

Myself and my God daughter went for afternoon tea, having received a voucher as a gift. The food was ok. The greeting, or lack of it, was surprising. The receptionist did not initially look up from her mobile phone. The young waitress was pleasant. The food looked good, but there was no explanation of what was on offer, or an option to change anything, hence I ate all the sandwiches, as my guest doesn’t like sauces. The scones where nice and warm, and the cakes (according to my guest were delicious) It was overall underwhelming.
