Beautiful location.
Marriage altar simply unique and beautifully romantic.
Amazing outdoor space.
Lift out of order a major inconvenience, especially with a room on the top floor. Fellow guest -disabled had to climb to the first floor to his alloted room.
Attic room naturally steamy in July , thankfully had fans in the room at least.
Comfortable clean bed and facilities.
Friendly staff overall, particular praise for the lady who went beyond the call of duty at the family wedding we were attending by babysitting an infant to allow mum and dad enjoy the speeches and meal.
Breakfast excellent.
Dining mixed bag, may well have received recent awards but I'd take the trip to Peebles and have dinner there.
Scratched my back on a damaged underwater light fitting , reported to two separate members of staff, I sincerely hope it was addressed before a child encounters.

Stayed a couple of day at the barony Castle, a nice good old little castle to stay with a friendly atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. The hotel offers a healt club with pool and gym. Restaurant is ok but the don’t offer small meals like a sandwich for dinner on the card. The tables with couch outside in the garden is quite uncomfortable. Rooms are ok but. Had a good stay here at the borders.

On the face of it, this looks like a very nice hotel, sadly that wasn't my experience at all. Travelling for business, i booked as a single occupant on a B&B basis. the cost was £113 per night. The single rooms are located at the back of the hotel, accessed via a lift, a corridor the full length of the hotel, a left turn, 2 flights of stairs, a left turn again, through a corridor, then a further 2 flights of stairs. You then access the room which has a single bed (no problem with that) a chest of drawers, tv and kettle. There was no space to hang clothes such as a rack or a wardrobe and the window was only covered by a single light material roller blind. No curtains, which meant the room was daylight just after 3 am. When i complained to the duty manager, he said, he wasn't aware of the issues i was raising and that he would pass it on to the manager. I stayed for 2 nights in the hotel but cut my visit short as a consequence of the hotel rooms unacceptable condition and location given the cost. The restaurant is pricey for the standard of the food and is staffed by a mixture of staff who addressed me as "sir" and other staff who addressed me as "mate" on a positive note, the food arrived in a timely manner. The location of this hotel is beautiful and the surrounding countryside is lovely to travel through, but the hotel is disappointing and that's why i'm guessing its an overal 3.7 standard
