Kings Arms Hotel

Whilst the staff were friendly and the breakfast good it wasn't worth the £250 for two nights we paid. We were given the ground floor Room 2, behind the pub. Entrance was through the Beer Garden, across the cobbles - thankfully it wasn't raining.. The bedroom window looked out onto the Beer Garden with all it's noise and people looking in. An early night wasn't a possibility because of the noise. We were then woken before 0800 to the sound of beer barrels being rolled along the cobbles. The bathroom was a nightmare. The shower was blasting incredibly hot water and we were unable to turn it down. There was a free standing bath but that leaked across the floor and I would have struggled to get out of it. When we complained the next morning we were told the shower was always doing that. They said they would get the housekeeper to sort it but we were told not to touch the controls or it would run hot again. THIS IS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE. If I had stepped in without testing it I would have been burnt.

A wonderful 2 night stay right in the centre of Melrose. The food was way better than we expected. A really busy restaurant so expect a delay but it is worth the wait. Our room was extremely comfortable and overall well worth the price for bed and breakfast. The staff were all very pleasant.

A very nice pub with rooms in the very centre of Melrose. Our room was clean and very comfortable, with a good ensuite shower room. Great staff in the bar downstairs and a good breakfast in the morning. Can't fault it and great value.
