Park Inn Telford by Radisson

I've had mixed experiences with Mercure hotels, but this one was good. There is a good car park with plenty of spaces. On arrival I was told that I should book early for dinner as there was a coach party coming in who had booked most of the restaurant. It was the England v Argentina match and my heart sank. Luckily it was a coach party of very well behaved older ladies and gentlemen and it didn't affect my stay at all. The hotel itself is not a character building. It's more boxy and built for purpose. My room was a good size and in good condition. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows could have been better. I had a tasty, if slightly on the meagre side, curry for dinner and I was served cheerfully and efficiently by Lorenda, who is bright and a credit to the hotel. All of the staff made a good impression and when the large party arrived they took it in their stride and didn't forget the rest of us. I watched the match and there were various areas where people gathered. It was all well organised and a nice environment in which to experience the ultimately crushing disappointment of the game. The main issue is that this hotel is used by lots of business and tradespeople. Between 6 and 8 a.m. they are all getting ready for work and the walls appear to be made from some sort of papyrus, so lots of noise. I will return, and I will remember to bring earplugs. It's not the sort of hotel to bring your partner to, the building is a bit characterless, but it's a very good business choice. The staff are a young team but they really are engaged, motivated, and they make the experience.

Great hotel with good facilities. Plenty of parking spaces. Breakfast had had a good variety of food to choose from. Friendly helpful staff, in particular Steph on reception who was very helpful and went above and beyond to help.
