The Red Lion Inn

This place is an absolute gem of a hotel We decided to get away last minute and booked with ease via booking.com Our room was stylish comfortable and had everything we needed We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and the food was absolutely delicious not a massive menu but still plenty of choice if that makes sense. The staff are all lovely friendly helpful and made our stay a most pleasant one Ensuring we shall be back for definite in the near future .

Avery easy to find location just off M1 with a large car park with PLENTY of signs reminding you to log your reg number on arrival. Check in well signed and process easy with friendly and welcoming staff who were very busy but nothing felt rushed. Rooms were very well presented and spotlessly clean with nice toiletries and a good supply of beverages. Sleep quality was very good with no noise from outside and almost none inside either, even the plumbing was quiet! Sunday roast was very good with good sized portions and plenty of gravy, drinks were not cheap but of good quality. Breakfast was filling too. A very enjoyable stay and on the list to return to as many local historic, natural and retail places in the vicinity.

Classic case of cheap tasteless ingredients thrown together The chips can only be compared to cardboard. In fact cardboard would have more flavour. The gammon was watery & tasteless.. the chicken in the kids mean was dry & tough.. we sent it back & got a microwaved pizza sent out.. our son picked the pizza up and all the topping ran off leaving just thick tasteless bread.. we had to spoon the runny topping back on…it’s a shame that this nicely set out place has such terrible food.. we won’t be returning or recommending…
