Carlton Hotel

This privately owned hotel is situated a short walk from the decaying Ipswich Town centre, it offers limited parking including through a claustrophobic passageway. It is handy for Ipswich Town Football Club for those who wish to maximise their trips to Portman Road, and although I've said the Town centre is decaying that largely refers to shopping, as there are plenty of bars & restaurants to fit all budgets This is a small independent hotel & should be judged as such, if you want 5* plus go elsewhere We were met at reception by a very well spoken, polite and very helpful individual. He clearly had an excellent understanding of how to provide service and we thank him for it The were things about the hotel that were below current standard or old fashioned We didn't complain but should have about the shower - could not get a constant temperature, pillows could have been better, but overall the hotel did what we wanted > a place to sleep for one night whilst visiting relatives in the town Breakfast was not advertised, but was provided, albeit a pot porridge, juice & pan au chocolate We feel happy that we supported a small independent local business

Very comfortable stay and a warm welcome from the host on arrival and throughout my stay. All the facilities I needed in the room (Room 8) for a solo traveller and a lovely, much appreciated, breakfast gift pack. Ideal location for exploring the town centre and waterfront. I highly recommend this hotel.

Very good value , we stayed 1 week night and the room was very comfy and relatively quiet , we were on the first floor . Beds were ok, Wifi worked well , Great friendly helpful host . great Location . We appreciated the breakfast "on the go " - just add hot water porridge , a tasty pastry and a small box of juice ,Excellent , We would stay again
