voco Lythe Hill Hotel Spa By IHG

We went for a day to use the spa facilities. The staff are ok but lack enthusiasm! The showers and pool side floors seem grubby and in need of updating. The outside sun terrace would be much improved if it wasn’t covered in weeds with plastic cups flying around the floor! The waiters snd waitresses in the restaurant were scruffy, we had to ask for the previous customers left over food to be removed! The restaurant had 4 people in side and 4 people outside so not busy. There is a reason for it not being busy and that is the choice of food and the price! Lunch time menu very limited and very expensive . THIS COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER!! In such beautiful surroundings this hotel is missing a trick. Loads of people on sun loungers with their own food and drink! Pool side drinks limited and expensive considering most of the drinks are cans! Staff need to be more welcoming and smile! You are located in a lovely town, you could be so much better!

voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa Date of stay: 5 July 2026 Rooms: 401 and 403 As a loyal IHG guest for over 20 years — historically staying around 70–100 nights per year, and now around 30–40 nights per year post-Covid — I feel I know the brand well. This stay at voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa had many of the qualities I expect from IHG: a warm welcome, clean rooms, good food, and professional service. It was also a much better stay than on previous visits, and both my daughter and I really enjoyed the experience. Arrival & Check-In The hotel was easy to find using the postcode and sat nav, which made for a smooth and stress-free arrival. Parking was also straightforward, with a large free car park surrounding the hotel. Check-in was quick, friendly and welcoming, and the receptionist made an excellent first impression. As an IHG Diamond Elite member, I was warmly acknowledged and offered the usual choice of free breakfast, bonus points or a complimentary drink — a small touch, but always appreciated. Even better, for only the third time this year, I was offered a room upgrade. Not only was my room upgraded to a King Suite, but my daughter’s room was upgraded as well, which was an amazingly kind and generous gesture. Room & Cleanliness The rooms were spotlessly clean, well presented and in good condition, fully in line with the standards I would expect from IHG. Fixtures, fittings and linens were fresh and well maintained. Please see the attached photos. Dining The evening menu offered a good range of voco-style options, including homemade lamb burgers, steak and meat-free choices, with enough variety to suit most tastes. The open-plan bar and dining area created a relaxed and informal atmosphere. There was only one small issue. My daughter ordered the arrabbiata pasta, which would have been fine, except the pasta had not been drained sufficiently. What arrived was therefore a rather watery bowl of very mildly spicy pasta. After driving for over four hours and being extremely hungry, we made the very British decision not to mention it in the restaurant, but simply to record it here for later review. The French onion soup followed by the roast chicken mash and gravy were however excellent. Breakfast offered a good balance of continental and cooked options. Freshly prepared eggs were available at no extra charge, which made for an excellent start to the day. Check-Out Check-out was smooth and efficient, with professional and courteous staff ensuring everything was completed quickly. Overall This is a comfortable, clean and well-run hotel, with friendly staff, mostly good food, and the reliable IHG experience I have come to expect — although the pasta sauce could perhaps do with a little less swimming and a little more sauce. The hotel also has a pool and spa, which is a lovely additional benefit. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay and a noticeable improvement on previous visits. I would happily return. Booked an overnight stay for my husbands 50th birthday. There was a bit of a mix up on checkin, the room we booked on Booking.com was showing up as cancelled. However, Roisin was amazing and found us another room. A minor issue with the room was sorted promptly and we were very well looked after. All of the staff were so kind and friendly, and the surroundings, room and restaurant were all lovely. We had a really nice meal in the restaurant and breakfast was great too. This was our third visit to Lythe Hill and we will be back. Thank you :) Sophie and Matt
