Stanhill Court Hotel

What a shame, the hotel is in a great location for Gatwick Airport, the grounds are lovely but after that the hotel was a huge disappointment, check in took forever, the lift was out of order, the signage is in complete making it an adventure to find your room, requiring access to unsigned doors. The restaurant was surprisingly decent and the service was friendly and the cabin bar was also welcoming. The rooms on first impressions were excellent but the bathroom was designed by somebody with no sense of requirements. To sit on the toilet required you to squeeze in between the heated towel rail and shower cubicle, anyone who is healthy weight to obese, will need to switch off the towel rail and open the shower cubicle door and sit at an angle to be able to use the facilities, absolutely joke of bathroom design. Such a pity.

Stayed here 25th august one night before early flight from LGW. Location is nice and location too. Although can imagine the hotel would be very loud and hectic on a weekend when they have weddings etc. Staff are good food wasnt bad value. I would of given 4 stars BUT have deducted two based on. 1) in room air fan barely worked so room was far too hot and i had barely any sleep could of saved £70 and just slept at the departure terminal at LGW. 2) a SEVERE FIRE HAZARD AND ILLEGAL PRACTICE. Of propping open fire doors i counted 5 just on floor 2 so god knows how many more. These doors were wedged open by a wooden door wedge so would not close when they needed to in a fire , it seemed the auto open/ locking system isnt working properly as I closed all doors i noticed were illegally wedged/propped open that the doors were not staying open on the auto/magnet system. Hotel has been reported to the local fire service.

Setting is lovely, accommodation is of a four-star standard. But if offered as a Gatwick Airport option, a hard pass - no shuttle and a £60 return taxi journey make it ridiculous compared to closer options. Breakfast mediocre.
