Hideaway at Herrington Hill

We had our wedding reception here on Saturday 2nd of Feb and I must say everything about it was brilliant. The setting was immense and also enhanced by the snow in the gardens. The service, food and grounds were out of this world. Me and my now wife also stayed over in the garden suite which was absolutely stunning. The breakfast was also beautiful. Would highly recommend to anyone and I dare say we will be returning in the not too distant future. Thanks again

We have stayed here twice over the last few months, for two nights on each occasion. The location was ideal for visiting friends and family in the Sunderland area. It was exactly what we wanted, comfortable, interesting and friendly. On our second visit the house was cheerfully decorated for Christmas and a coal fire had been lit downstairs, we really looked forward to returning here after a day out.

The Hideaway is a fantastic little place to stay. A 18th Century Hunting Lodge with a warm welcoming feel and peaceful and quiet surroundings. The rooms are a good size and the amenities within the rooms simple but perfect.( I especially loved the bar of chocolate - never got one of these in a room before) The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathroom in the Garden Room is huge with a grandiose bath. There is even a nice little selection of DVDs and books in the room if the mood takes you to watch a movie or have lose yourself in a novel amidst the woodland surroundings. Owners are lovely and helpful and the breakfasts fantastic with ample portions to set you up for the day. As a guest you get the run of one wing of the house which allows you access to the guest's lounge resplendent with its open fire place. At present the Hideaway does not offer evening meals but there are some lovely restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.
