Sunderland Marriott Hotel

Very poor, room not good, blown double glazing in room, not good when you book a room for the sea view , At breakfast , every table piled high with dirty pots . Had to ask for a table to be cleaned before sitting down.Then some of the cooked food had run out, and fruit juice was empty. . The leisure counter was closed. When we pointed this out . We were told it was posted on third party websites. I had to point out it said nothing on their website.I duty manger said it was , so I asked him to show me . He then tried to find it , but couldn’t. Because it was not there .The leisure center ,food and sea views were what I booked this hotel for , and was very disappointed with all three. In the end we had to stay there. But only because we could not find another hotel. I can honestly say I will NEVER stay stay there again

We have stayed at this hotel several times before and always enjoyed it but it had gone downhill rapidly this time. Upon arrival we saw sign saying the the facilities were closed due to maintenance. We we were not told this prior to arrival upon questioning as to why we hadn't been told before arriving we were told it was on 3rd party booking sites but not on there own website . As we booked on their own we had no way of knowing . Surely an email to guests warning them the leisure facilities wouldn't be available would have be courteous The main reason for staying at this hotel was to use the pool . We would have cancelled if we had been told and not travelled 2 hours we could have stayed at other hotels with no pool for less money. The room was very shabby and dated. On entering the restaurant for breakfast every table was covered in dirty pots a table was cleared for us by a member of staff but no other tables were cleared the whole time we were in there. We certainly won't be returning

Old tired smelly and frankly shocking for the price, no pool as it was out of order. Arrived to an almighty smell was informed it was outside of the hotel but the room stank. We had to purchase an air freshener for the room (112), then played hunt the TV remote which uncovered a multitude of areas that hadn’t seen a duster or hoover for years never mind days.. eventually found in the sofa bed under the cushion met with puzzlement from reception, matched by ours at only having 3 pillows a broken vanity stool. Breakfast was adequate but not 4star. The only Grand thing was the price
