Britannia Newcastle Airport

​I stayed here for four nights for an event and was very disappointed. The room was unclean upon arrival and smelled strongly of mold. Housekeeping never cleaned the room during my stay in fact, I was told they don't offer room cleaning at all and I had to beg staff for basic toilet paper. Additionally, while breakfast was provided, the menu was extremely limited.

Friendly and helpful staff and convenient location but the hotel is very run down. The room hadn’t been vacuumed properly, carpets didn’t reach the edge of the room. Walls, bath and mirror all in poor condition. Light fittings had been spray painted with over spray on the walls and no toilet rolls in the bathroom. I had a twin room and both of the beds wobbled worryingly on their legs. I cannot recommend this Hotel at all.

We stayed at the Britannia Hotel as we had an early flight the following morning. There seemed to be several coach tour groups staying, and when we checked in, we were told we couldn't have dinner until 7:35 pm because of this. When we went into the restaurant, we were seated but had to wait quite a while before anyone came to take our order. The meal itself was okay. However, when we wanted to order dessert, the young waitress was so busy chatting to a couple she appeared to know that we were ignored for quite some time. By the time we eventually got our dessert, we felt as though we were being hurried out, as she cleaned the table next to us three times while we were still eating. Breakfast the following morning was excellent. The staff at breakfast, especially the lady serving, were lovely, friendly, and welcoming. The hotel is fine for an overnight stop before an early flight. However, based on our experience, we wouldn't choose to have dinner there again, as the service was disappointing.
