For US travelers who are use to hotels with Air-conditioning I would avoid staying at this hotel in the summer as it get too hot and the rooms only have a fan system. Also, the windows in the rooms do not open which makes the rooms into a greenhouse. Key items I noticed when staying at the hotel: No AC in Rooms -Fan not enough to hot -Windows do not open. Long time to check-in -Not enough Staff No power sockets on bedsides of bed No clock in the bedrooms. No Face cloth or bathrobes in bathrooms. Parking is unnecessarily complicated if you stay multiple days Not a 4 Star Hotel by International Standards in my opinion. Very limited TV Channels. The Good things: Nice breakfast and variety of items. Great view of the River Tyne Great Location close to downtown Newcastle Rooms were cleaned well.

Have just returned from a 4 might stay at the Copthorne Hotel with Eastons Coaches. Cannot fault the place. Room was spacious, clean and tidy with a lovely riverside view. All staff were friendly, helpful and obliging. Food was tasty, hot and well presented. Breakfast choice very good offering hot and cold buffet style. We would like to thank everyone for a most enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to stay again. 10/10

Overall we had a good experience when we stayed recently - all the staff were friendly and helpful, and our room overlooking the river, whilst fairly basic, was a good size. The bathroom however is now showing its age and could do with an upgrade. The restaurant also has good views, and the serving staff deserve a special mention. The evening meals were a bit ordinary, although the buffet breakfasts were of a good standard. The only negative comment regarding breakfast is that a more efficient toasting machine is required - to have just a 4-slice toaster for the number of guests is a bit puzzling. Also the queues at the coffee machine would indicate that a second machine is probably needed.
