Reception staff at Copthorne were very welcoming, polite and helpful, the hotel location is ideal with all rooms over looking the rive, unfortunately for us the weather was against us which put a downer on the outlook from out room.
The bedroom was very good, lacked power sockets in the right places but overall very good apart from the house keeping, there seemed to be quite a bit lacking n the house keeping department, lots of dust every where, some appeared to have ben there for some time and despite putting out our "please service my room card" nothing seemed to move. The room itself was very comfortable and we slept well. Plenty of tea/coffee makings.
I would certainly consider staying at the Copthorne again, the only real downside of this hotel is the food, this is definitely not up to four star standards, it was all very basic, more suitable to a two or at best three star premise. Menu choice was poor and having to order one's dinner twenty-four hours before, is not what I have become used to in four star establishments.
Bar prices varied as to who served you, I purchased the same drinks every night and prices seemed to vary with a difference of up to £1.
Over all, Yes a nice hotel, staff were good be it a bit slow in the dining room, would rather chat with each other than clear tables, but I was on holiday so not in a rush, yes I would stay there again

Visited with Johnson’s Coaches would say it’s one of the best hotel stays! The beds are comfortable, the rooms spacious and clean: with a beautiful river view and the staff are attentive and caring.
It’s also a perfect central location with easy access to the city
Food wise they really care: the breakfast buffet’s excellent, and the meals are very good: they make extra effort to listen to customers food requests/requirements.
Just want to say a special thank you to Nicolas, Sam, Billy, Brandon, Voilet, Katlin and George they looked after myself and rest of the coach passengers beautifully.
Certainly a worthwhile visit

I was at Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle from Sunday 14th June to Friday 19th June 2026 on a coach tour with Johnsons coaches. Absolutely loved the hotel, lovely River views. Friendly staff excellent food. Cannot wait to return.
Loved Beamish, Alnwick Castle. Also loved Lindisfarne. The castle was interesting. Excellent views from hotel. Not really had much time. Hac a couple of evening walks along by river.
