Newcastle Marriott Hotel Gosforth Park

We had a gift voucher and decided to book here last minute. Britannia don’t have the best reputation so I wasn’t expecting much however it was only for 1 night to attend an exhibition in Newcastle. We were so pleasantly surprised! Yes the hotel is a little tired in places but our room was spotless, quiet and comfortable. We didn’t use any of the facilities and got dinner & breakfast elsewhere so I’m not able to comment on that, but our hotel room was spacious and clean and we would definitely stay again. One thing I would say is the receptionist did really just give us our room cards and that was it - no info on spa facilities/breakfast times etc (even though we weren’t using either) and wasn’t as cheery or welcoming as I’d have wanted but hey ho, it’s a small complaint.

Terrible service, Rude staff at reception and even worse in leisure complex. Charged extra to use the pool even though nothing was explained and hotel very dated nothing grand about it. Only thing I will say, Bar staff very good, polite and professional they only reason I gave it a one out of five.

Booked the special offer Diamond Afternoon Tea. Was served on lovely China and linen. Food was tasty but didn't reassemble the advert. However, we were not offered any Prosecco which was part of the offer- I would have asked for it but only realised it was included as we were leaving. Teapot for two only contained enough for 1 cup each - had to request another. All though not busy, service was almost non- existent.
