Otterburn Castle Country House Hotel

The check in and welcome was very pleasant and the best part of our stay. There appeared to be an issue with the water pressure on the cold tap in the bathroom as it made a horrendous noise. Larger pillows would have been preferred, but slept reasonably well. However the main disappointment was the breakfast. As seasoned travellers we know a good breakfast when we have one. For the price of the stay we were expecting a choice of juices, fruit salad, yoghurts, porridge and fruit, different options for the cooked breakfast like smoked salmon. Having also mentioned that there was a need for gluten free options, it was very disappointing that there was no gluten free bread available, when in an email it said that they catered for gluten free guests. The only option for breakfast was a traditional cooked breakfast. Neither of us eat bacon or sausage. So a tiny serving of beans, tomatoes and mushrooms and two fried eggs were received, and I'd also asked for poached eggs. Please have a word with Eshott Hall who will be able to advise on what a decent breakfast entails.

We stayed the night at Otterburn Castle, which was ideal as we needed to be in Otterburn for a wedding. It's a really interesting hotel and we loved all the old furnishings dotted about. A lovely quiet stay, and breakfast was very good. There are nice gardens too if you fancy a stroll. The staff were great, with a special mention for Lewis, who couldn't have been more helpful.

We had a lovely stay at Otterburn Castle. The history of the castle is fascinating. I loved all the original features, and the fact that the rooms decor was in keeping with the building. My room was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable, and it featured the wardrobe of my dreams! 😍I can’t wait to see what the new owners do with place. I will definitely be back.
