The Park Hotel

Very welcoming staff, the decor very fitting with the style of the hotel, plenty of available seating to give privacy if wanted. Had the Sunday Carvery which was well done and the chef very generous with his servings. The room was very clean and tidy and the latgedluble bed was exceptionally comfortable. We were veryucky to have Room 203 with fantastic views of the sea and the most amazing sunrise on the Sunday morning.

I’m not going to be too harsh because this place is lovely and we have had several Sunday lunches and had no complaints until this week and stupidly just over coffee… we were sitting outside and we sat for 25 mins waiting for our coffee … when my husband went into check if there was a problem there was our coffee sitting on the bar counter and the staff sitting at a table chatting .., needless to say the coffee was not at its best … we ordered another when some friends joined us and low and behold it happened again … coffee sitting there whilst the staff chatted !!!

We stayed here for two nights 22nd-24 September. I am a coeliac but there were tasty gluten- free options, clearly marked on the menu. Breakfast was a buffet with the range of cooked options for a full English breakfast. We had dinner at the hotel for two nights and enjoyed both meals: we had the soup, the game terrine, the pork and venison lasagne, mussels and the lamb cutlets which were were perfectly cooked. The staff were very helpful, the service was good and the waiter checked to see if we were happy with the meals. The room was clean and comfortable with a sea view; the bathroom was a little small but the shower was good and the water hot. The hotel is in a great position close to the King Charles III footpath and not far from the Metro station. We walked to Whitley Bay quite comfortably on our first day and took the Metro to explore Newcastle on the second day. We are already thinking of a repeat visit. The hotel and the surrounding area have a lot to offer.
