Court Colman Manor

We stayed here for wedding anniversary recently, the staff were very friendly however we chose it over cheaper hotels due having jet pool and thought a nice treat, however on arrival discovered it was broken and not able to fix, the tv free view box didnt work either!! So meant an expensive b n b really! 😞

Hotel from hell I have no idea where to start with this upon arrival as we came up the driveway there was work being done which left a uneven driveway but looking at previous reviews of the hotel people from last year were also saying that there is work being done on the driveway crazy I know that ain’t the start of it the young girl at the front desk which I must say the front desk was very sticky & dirty although she was very polite and welcoming gave us our room key and directions to the room bare in mind before hand the room (Japanese room) had been renovated and we were the first people to stay in this new room as we were told on the phone before booking so we come into the room and immediately me and my partner looked at each and both said what is this and by the photos I’ve put down you can see why for £330 for 2 nights it was a joke the floor had a massive dip in it even my suitcase could not sit still we didn’t even have a new bed it was caked in dust the wardrobe was a pop up plastic thing the mirrors are tiny dirty and tacky just like the furniture it was like it came from someone’s house that no longer wanted it you had to use a lock to hold the window up looked like something you use on a garden shed also the floor was so uneven in the room also had to have a extension cable to charge our phones next to the bed old screws left in the walls and best of all the shower didn’t even work so we went to front desk and complained the young girl bless her was the only person working by the seems she tried to contact management but no answer and said the maintenance guy would come and fix it in the morning so I asked are there any other rooms they had no suites left which is what we payed for so we had a look at a double room on the 3rd floor as we made our way up it completely stunk of weed really bad and that room was not much better it was tiny and the mattress was like a wooden board so we headed back downstairs and asked if management are back in the morning and the young girl said yes and we will get the maintenance to come fix it I said ok we will try the bath with jets for now as we try to use the bath with jets out came to what looked like fluff and hair and the plug for the bath had seen better days it was rusty and mouldy as for the sleep it wasn’t great there was a howling draft coming through the door and sounded like someone was trying to open it from the draft at this point we didn’t expect much for the breakfast we headed back down to reception the gentleman who was also very kind and helpful said we could go into another suite (Moroccan suit) and apologised for the other room which wasn’t his fault but we could not go into the other room as there was people still waiting to check out and it had to be cleaned which was completely understandable so then we headed for breakfast we sat down and one of the serves came over to take our order we had the welsh breakfast which wasnt very pleasing it was so bland and tasteless only nice thing was the hash browns we did not eat much of it at all my partner wanted a yoghurt as we didn’t eat much of the breakfast so I goes up to get a yogurt to only see her open it and see it was 3 days out of date swimming in thick rotten yogurt and by the way there was also a family next to us with a young baby just imagine that young baby went to eat it let alone anyone else we told the young girl who served us and took them away immediately and apologised so we got up and left right after we left our suitcases with them also to transfer over to the new room ready for when we got back which they did and everything was there as we come back we spoke to the same gentleman who gave us our room we come to the room which was slightly better and by the way the smell of the whole building wasn’t great smelt old and dusty just like both of the rooms not a air freshener in sight in the new room there was wall paper hanging off the wall and the bed had seen better days was a few wear marks on the headboard although this was another renovated room also but it was better than the other room but still not great by all means we was also met with a little friend in the bathroom and while spotting him we seen holes in the ceiling and what look like a leak and also once showered in there we found out the drain was blocked we both had water up to our shins while showering and the smell after a while of being in the bathroom it really smelt of wee absolutely gross at this point we had no choice but to just stay as we had a whole weekend with important plans the bedding was clean but the bed itself was not comfy at all I woke up with a very stiff back and who ever had done the wall paper needs to give there head a wobble a baby could of done a better job they even just painted over the top of old wallpaper that’s how lazy and careless it seemed here even the one drawer smelt really bad like a fishy smell :/ the shower did work but however didn’t feel very clean just like the other room skirting caked in dust just like the rest of the place the cleaners aren’t doing a good enough job also where the hairdryer was placed there was no plug near to were its holder was to be honest it just seems like no real care has gone into this place the only positive was the reception staff where lovely and polite no complaints there but it is being run into the ground I understand it’s old building but it’s so unclean and disgusting it’s a absolute joke I’ve stayed in much older hotels and they are some of the best places I’ve stay compared to this would not recommend this place to anyone such a horrible experience it ruined our weekend so please if your reading this avoid immediately and do not waste your money

Sean and I celebrated our wedding at Court Colman this August. Thanks to the wonderful staff and particularly Alison, we had the most magical day where everything ran smoothly. The beef was outstanding and everyone commented on how tender and tasty it was-we would definitely recommend Court Colman for any wedding. It was a beautiful venue with lovely grounds which made for fantastic photos. I wish we could live this day all over again!
