ibis Cardiff Centre

Only two nights in this Cardiff Hotel. Central, well maintained. A little annoyance because the elevators did not lead to the sixth floor, the restaurant.10 and praise to breakfast and Claudia, who was professional and very kind in 'helping us choose the best. We booked this hotel in February 2022, 1 double room, 1 twin room. 2 weeks before arrival date I received a call to say 'hotel closed' and with no other options we were transferred to another hotel - Sleeperz! We couldn't find any parking so stopped at Sleeperz reception where they gave us a postcode for the Satnav - Turned out to be a private BBC staff car park! Eventually we found a space in the Station Car Park. Back to Sleeperz, where they informed us their twin rooms have bunk beds - great news for us in our late 60's! Eventually they found us a double room. The 5 storey building had just 1 lift, often being used by cleaning staff to take bedding, equipment etc., etc, up to various floors. The inclusive breakfast was certainly not up to the Ibis 'red' standard we have been used to. All in all, not a like-for-like swap we were promised when we accepted the booking. I base my scoring below based on the fact that the Ibis let us down and did not provide like-4-like.

Just been rung and informed my booking is being cancelled as the venue is closing for a year. But on a plus side They have arranged it to be moved over to the Ibis budget a slightly further walk to the venue we are attending for 2 nights, Just awaiting email (1 hr so far) with confirmation the alternative is booked in
