We had such a lovely experience at breakfast this morning. Omar went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, especially with my little boy, which meant so much. He was kind, attentive, and genuinely warm. Nothing felt like too much trouble. It’s little touches like this that really make a stay special, and Omar is a real credit to the hotel. Thank you again for such a positive start to our day!

Awful! Terrible service! Wrong food! Rude staff with no customer care. Firstly, I am not someone who would just write a terrible review without trying to get it resolved as it happened. I did try to speak to someone but the waitress just couldn’t care. When I then spoke to the duty manager his response when I tried to explain how bad everything had been was……” I have a phone here and today everyone is complaining”. No apology or anything from him and he then just walked away so I felt I had to write the review so hopefully it will stop anyone else going to this’s c awful place for afternoon tea. There were only about 3 other tables occupied in a large restaurant and now I know why it was so quiet….. it should be avoided! Firstly, food was nice but mixed with appallingly bad service, rude staff, forgetting half of our food which we only realised when we were about to leave, and adding £76 onto our bill and insisting we had to pay it (they need to invest in a calculator and some common sense). The waitress passed our very full(with plates, teapots, cups etc) table so many times and never once asked if we would like more tea and there was no effort to clear anything. They brought someone who has an egg allergy food that was not egg free (even though my friend had phoned yesterday to explain). It was only when C we said are you sure that it is egg free that she took it away and brought some olives instead. When we asked for a small box to put some bits one of my friends had not eaten she said ok, then did not bring it, despite passing our table a lot of times. We then asked again and eventually had to ask someone else. As we were about to leave we saw another table who were having afternoon tea have sweets that we did not have. When we asked should those of us who had gentleman’s tea have had any sweet food she said I don’t know. When we asked if she could check she did and then came back and said yes but they didn’t give it to us because two waiters had served our table???? I then had to ask the duty manager who said oh yes we should have been given sweets. He said we could have them to take home but minus panna cotta as it was in a glass. So…. We ate panna cotta. Finally as for the bill….. it would take me too long to explain but they were so rude, worked out that we owed £76 extra….. even when they realised it was a mistake no apology! A special afternoon with three of my most special friends was ruined by terrible service and absolutely awful staff.

I stayed at Park Plaza Cardiff for a city break in March, and overall it was a good base for exploring the Welsh capital. The location is one of the hotel’s biggest strengths, with Cardiff Castle, the shopping arcades and plenty of restaurants all within a short walk. The room was spacious and comfortable, although some areas felt a little dated and could benefit from a refresh. The staff were welcoming and check-in was straightforward. Breakfast had a good variety, but was only Luke warm and service was a little slow during the morning rush. As a travel creator, I’d recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a central location and good value. While it didn’t quite have the wow factor I’d hoped for, it still made for an enjoyable stay and is a solid option for a weekend in Cardiff.
