Avoid this hotel if you want to be treated with basic respect. Reception wouldn't check anyone in even a minute early, so by 3pm there was a horde of people waiting to check in. In front of everyone and without checking my booking, receptionist Chris loudly announced that I wouldn't be checking into the hotel and told me to take my belongings and leave. After I pushed for an explanation, I was told he had reason to believe I had made the booking using stolen credentials. I repeatedly offered photographic ID, proof of address and proof of payment. Chris refused to look at any of it. The shift manager also refused to verify my identity and he repeated that there was nothing they could do and I needed to leave. Chris and his manager came across as far more excited about publicly exposing what they believed was an identity thief rather than considering I was the victim of one. I walked passed everyone in tears and had to get ready for my event in the back of my car. I was a woman alone with nowhere to stay, 5+ hours from home, and genuinely believed my own identity may have been stolen. I was close to calling the police. Turns out, there was a typo in my email address when I made the booking. The confirmation email went to someone else who called up to question the booking. I returned to the desk, another manager stated that the caller had only disputed the email address. Not the name, address, phone number OR payment details. My ID was FINALLY looked at, lo and behold it all matched the booking and I was checked in. I get that hotels have to investigate suspected fraud, but NO investigating took place. I was humiliated in front of a packed reception and was given no opportunity to explain. I spent my stay replaying the incident in my mind and trying to come down from the panic of believing my identity had been stolen. Final sidenote: The state of the room was nowhere near worth the £180 paid.

Great location lovely clean rooms well worth the value I would 100% recommend friendly and polite staff we had abit of trouble trying to check into the room went to the front desk and spoke to member of staff a lovely lady unfortunately I didn't get her name but she had short blonde hair sorted our room out for us and we were so great full because we were going to watch Metallica and need to check into the room no later than 2 but got told the room wont be ready till 3 and the lady sorted it out by 1.30 it was sorted paid for the earlier check in and it was clean and what we needed so thank you so much for the great customer service we received

We stayed here for two nights over a weekend. I did a lot of research before booking - there are always negative reviews but there were a lot of very positive reviews so we took the chance. Unfortunately it seems the negative reviews were correct and I would not recommend anyone stays here. Yes it's a great location but we paid over £590 for a room overlooking extensive building work and noise (which we were not told about). There was the previous occupants hairs in the shower, stains on the bathroom tiles (it clearly hadn't been cleaned), broken shower fittings, mould, the furniture in the bedroom was old, stained and very worn, the list just goes on. The rooms do not have AC, only a very small fan, which didn't actually do anything. It was only possible to open the window a couple of inches but we couldn't even do that with the building work. The room was small, lacked any comfort and only had two electrical sockets. No shower mat, half a roll of toilet paper, it couldn't have been any worse. Key cards to the room and doors in the hotel rarely worked. Reception wasn't manned to raise any issues or even a phone number left to call on reception if there was an issue. Travelodge - you need to do better!!
