The Abbey Hotel

we stopped here on wed 14/06/2017 it is now trading as cfeleven on arrival we were told their was no breakfast but he said as he hadn't charged for it that was ok. on the windows it advertises EAT,DRINK,SLEEP. an A board inside says bar open Thursday to sunday. pity we stopped on a Wednesday. it was clean and the room smelled of disinfectant. the manager/owner told us a tale of how he charged a gentleman £2000 to stop during the recent champions league final. this is not a business I would want to support. it also offers free parking. that means on the street when available

So The abbey hotel or CFeleven, whatever you wanna call it. Beautiful house renovated. My room had an amazing bathroom, big enough for a bath but had just shower. Bed was ultra soft and the room had everything I needed from lights to heaters. Reception area is a stock'ish' bar with good wifi around the hotel. Lost a mark as the place was having a new kitchen fitted so couldn't offer any food. The owners are lovely would defo stay again.

GOOD: amazingly comfortable beds. Location excellent - a 15 min walk from town centre. Room looked freshly painted and carpets new INBETWEEN: decor bizarre - not my style quirky nonetheless. 10/ 10 for originality and anyway taste is subjective. Breakfast bit limited but ok BAD: room very cold despite radiators on. Shower did not work at all on 2nd day. Zero. Owner said he had not been aware but I strongly suspect he was aware. This is as the electrical board in the passage showed the switch was off. Guesthouse had had a total power failure to 2nd floor day before and I suspect out shower was the culprit which tripped the whole floor (as the whole floor tripped the prev day whilst in shower) and this is why it was turned off at the board. We were offered another room to shower in but by then we were dressed and at breakfast so pointless. Telly bracket in room was loose and telly did not work. VALUE FOR MONEY :£137 per night was not worth it.
