MERCURE SHAKESPEARE

We stayed here for a night. The hotel itself is very olde worlde, creaking floorboards and old beams. It could do with a bit of a makeover, especially the bathroom which did look a bit tired. The breakfast was very good , with plenty of choice and all staff were very friendly.Car park is 15 pound per night.

There where a number of issues which may have been related to shortage of staff, or poorly motivated staff. Shower in one room and toilet in another not working properly. Dirty crockery piled in a corridor most of one day and overnight. Reception staff unfriendly.

This hotel is the real deal. It is old and creaky and full of Tudor charm. It is centrally located for everything that you want to do around town, within walking distance of the train station and all the touristy spots. The room and bed were comfortable and a decent size. It does need a bit of sprucing up, but all in all I enjoyed my stay here.
